Destination Wedding Photography – Italy
When you think of Italy, where do you dream of going? In what kind of place do you see yourself exchanging your vows, then celebrating your magical wedding day – amongst the seductive scenery of the Amalfi coast or in romantic, unique Venice? Can you see your wedding photography amongst the artistic wonders of Florence or at a Tuscan farmhouse surrounded by cypress tress, lemon and olive groves? An Italian wedding can become a dream come true for you, just as destination wedding photography in Italy has been a dream come true for me.
How did you fall in love with Italy? Perhaps like me, you had already fallen for La Dolce Vita before your first visit. Maybe one of your favourite films is ‘Under The Tuscan Sun’, because of its setting?
My first visit was the most fantastic tour starting in Venice, then Rome, travelling through the Tuscan countryside to Orvieto, Pisa and Florence. The ghostly ruins of Pompeii were awe-inspiring. Since then, I can only last for so long before I have to go again either for work or pleasure. It was over a cappuccino in the Piazza della Signoria in Florence where my boyfriend gave me an engagement ring, and our honeymoon was on the Venice Lido!
Whichever one of these parts Italy you are thinking of for your destination wedding, planning your wedding or elopement there is vastly different to visiting as a tourist. If you are thinking of trawling through Google for advice and research, prepare to be overwhelmed! Unless you know an area well, and can speak Italian well too, a friendly, well travelled and knowledgable wedding planner in Italy could become your wedding best friend. The right person who shares your vision will make your Italian wedding experience an absolute dream come true from start to finish. As a destination wedding photographer, I’ve had the pleasure of working with specialist wedding planners who organise destination weddings in Italy.
Coastal church and beachside celebration planned at Santa Maria by Julie of My Secret Italy
This year I am photographing two weddings in the much quieter part of the Amalfi coast at Santa Maria di Castellabate where wedding planner Julie Mackenzie is much loved and well known for the magical days and stays she arranges there. One wedding will be on the beach, and the other in a majestic tower overlooking the coast. I can’t wait!
I’ve been lucky to work with Julie before and seen first hand, her care for her couples, her meticulous wedding planning and her attention to detail. Previously planning luxury honeymoons, she’s been planning destination weddings since 2002, specialising in the less well known fabulous parts of Italy. Have a look at her incredibly warm and welcoming site – My Secret Italy
The Tuscany region… the breathtaking countryside is just a part of it. Can you imagine celebrating at a Tuscan farmhouse, your wedding photography amongst the olive groves, your wedding breakfast al fresco?
Moving from the region of Tuscany and to the Amalfi coast area, there’s Sorrento…
Imagine the loveliest, warmest, most flattering of lights for your wedding photographs. Picture the sunsets…
Destination wedding photography in Italy, at La Cervara
a luxurious and historic wedding venue in the coastal town of Portofino on the Ligurian coast
What about Florence? The art, the architecture, the stunning views… Villa le Fontanelle has its own a charming chapel, fantastic gardens with views over Florence, beautiful rooms and of course a pool.
With weddings in Sorrento, Amalfi and Portofino and elopements in Florence and Pienza, Tuscany, wedding photography in Italy has been a dream come true for me.
