Valentine’s Day 2019 – The Black and White Edition
Can a photograph show true love? How many kinds of love are there? What makes the wedding world go round, is not only about the romance between the couple getting married who are clearly very much in love. Weddings are such emotional and joyous occasions, so to me, natural wedding photography takes in the connections between friendships, parents and the bond with their children, even the love we can feel for a beautifully made outfit or a thoughtful gift, and yes, even a healthy self-love when you look in the mirror and are happy with what you see. All these relationships count because they are all so precious and vital.
What’s so good about a black and white photography? Without the distraction of any colour, your eyes automatically seek out shape, mood or emotions. For my wedding photography, the absence of colour leads you to all the beauty of the feelings between the people in it.
Just one day ahead of Valentine’s Day, we now have Galentine’s Day. Women buy twice as many Valentine’s Day cards as men so it’s little surprise that ladies have decided to have a day to celebrate each other and the support and friendship they give to one another.
Having both a wonderful sister and lovely brother who I adore, seeing sibling love warms my heart.
One of my favourite couples photographs. I think the ‘why’ is obvious, but here I go… firstly, would you just look at the faces of the couple! If a split second could say I love you so much, it would be this one. I am especially happy I caught this moment as they are not a couple to show any public displays of affection – so no kissing or snuggling, just this one completely natural and spontaneous split moment in their ten hour wedding day. Now secondly, look at the groom’s best man, and the bride’s dad – are they feeling the love for the couple or what? !
The best caption for this one surely has to be – I love my dress!
And the groom grinned like Gromit!
Looks you’ll never catch in a selfie…
The hands that say I love you… I do love photographing warm, snuggly people.
Coping with the first dance in front of a 80 people together. Look at the connection between them and the twinkle in the eye.
May close friendships never end.
When your love is smokin’ !
Happiness for your friend is magical too.
Being happy with yourself makes it easier to give your love to others
One of the most-loved up couples I photographed in 2018.
So, can a photographer truly capture love?
