Sophie and Helen got Married! The Mansion Leeds Wedding is Here
A visual taster of The Mansion wedding day is here for Sophie and Helen, their families and friends. It was such a joyous celebration and I’m sure everybody beamed all day – I have proof! You’re in for a real creative treat because these brides designed and made so much for their wedding day. They chose vibrant sunshine colours like golden yellow and turquoise blue. They made their own origami flower table centres, music themed decorations and just wait till you see the wedding cake made by Helen’s sister, which wasn’t a wedding cake. It was more of a house. A gingerbread house. There were a few tears too, all happy and emotional ones. I clearly remember the thrill running through Sophie’s email that said they had to go and give notice again as they were now to have a marriage ceremony rather than a civil partnership one. Lots of us have been thinking, ‘about time’, since this piece of legislation went through Parliament – earlier than anticipated too. Now that rarely happens.
The brides had spent the night before at Weetwood Hall Hotel with their families and friends so they could all share in the excitement of The Mansion wedding that was soon to follow. Tour de France fever was already evident all over Yorkshire too, and Helen and Sophie were taking it all in their stride. When I arrived to photograph the atmosphere of their wedding morning, Helen had been for a run and Sophie had been reading her book. The rest of the bridal party was busy getting ready and the champagne was about to be opened…
