Yorkshire Wedding Venues / Thorner Weddings

When looking through Yorkshire wedding venues, would you consider village halls for your wedding reception? At a village hall, you could satisfy your creative urge and have it looking exactly as you’d like it. All of your personal touches will be reflected in your wedding photography.  It’s also a lovely way to incorporate any family hand-me-downs, like your grandma’s favourire tea service and make everyone feel included and special. Plus, what a nice way to support your local community.

Katie and Andrew did just this for their blue vintage themed wedding. They married at St Peter’s church in the very pretty village of Thorner, between Leeds and Wetherby in West Yorkshire. Their wedding reception was held just a short walk away at the Thorner Victory Hall.

Katie is from Edinburgh and Andrew is a Yorkshire lad. They met at work and have been together for almost eight years. Though they live in Chapel Allerton near Leeds, they loved pretty Thorner so much that they decided to marry and celebrate there. Altogether there were about 100 guests who celebrated with them from all over the UK plus friends from Canada.

For the guys, lots of wedding start off with that confusing button-hole.

Being an environmental geologist, Katie said she wasn’t at all creative!  As a female wedding photographer with several years of wedding experience, I’d have to disagree. All of this was thought of by the couple. There were about 14 of them getting the hall ready the day before. One bridesmaid said that it was all part of the fun and they all enjoyed themselves.
